| | | The adidas Samba is an indoor soccer training shoe. It has been among adidas' most popular, bestselling shoes in recent times. It uses a tan gumsole that distinguishes it from other known adidas models such as the Dragon, Samoa, and Gazelle. The shoe itself was produced in 1950 to enable soccer players to train on icy hard ground (hence the suction on the gumsole). Its original design featured the classic three stripes, as well as the gold trefoil on the foldable tongue.

shoeMar 08, 2010 Great arch support, wear around house and on the field (on dry days). Work good for old guys (age 41) like me.
shoe reviewFeb 03, 2010 for looks only, this is a good buy but it is narrow in the toe box so don't get unless your willing to deal with pinched feet or you have a naturally narrow foot. I also think the extra long tongue is strange but my son, who wears these, thinks it's cool.
True ClassicJan 17, 2010 The classic indoor soccer shoe. Works well for everyday wear as well. Holds up as a shoe for daily wear.
Best shoe everJan 14, 2010 Adidas is still batting 1000 with this gem. The enlarged tongue keeps itself in place and provides a bit of protection when walking. The sole is padded just enough to make it comfortable. And the price is unbeatable for the quality. I have been wearing this style of shoe since 1990 and will be wearing it in my casket. Or urn.

Adidas Samba ClassicsJan 13, 2010 First off, as the name implies, these Adidas Sambas are classics. They've been around 40 years (probably more) and they still look fresh! In my shallowness, I bought them on looks alone for around-the-house/ casual-Friday's.
They are a bit narrow, which is great for me. But they do lack a bit in arch/ball of the foot support. You'd think that if they're making these shoes for narrow-footed people, they would have better arch support because most people with narrow feet tend to have higher arches, right? If you have wide feet, you might want to avoid these.
As for the extra-long tongue, I have to say that I kind of like it. It makes the shoes unique. But I think if you wore low-socks, the tongue might chafe you and look funny. Also, folding the tongue down looks kind of dumb as you can see part of the sizing tag.
I found the sizing (10.5) to be pretty much right on, maybe a smidge bigger than my other Adidas. Overall though, for the price (I found mine on sale for $30!), I thought they were are a great deal! I really like these Samba Classics. They look fantastic and fit good for a casual shoe. I just wish they had a bit more support (like the Samba Millenium's do), then they'd be perfect.
